The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on April 8 several recent drug-related arrests following investigations and traffic stops across the parish.
The announcement highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address narcotics offenses and related violations in the community. Authorities urge anyone with information about these incidents to contact Crime Stoppers, noting that callers may remain anonymous and could receive a reward of up to $2,500.
According to the release, deputies arrested Wendy Dufrene, 56, at LA 18 and Jackie Bee Drive in Luling on April 7 for possession of fentanyl, hydrocodone, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Dufrene was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant stemming from a July 2025 incident in Boutte.
Royce Richardson Jr., 27, was apprehended at LA 3127 and S. Fashion Blvd. in Hahnville on April 5 after deputies detected the odor of marijuana during a traffic stop. Richardson faces charges including possession of marijuana, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, improper display of temporary registration plates, and a fugitive warrant.
Melinda Smith, 40, was arrested at 521 Almedia Road in St. Rose on April 4 after deputies discovered warrants from another agency during a traffic stop inquiry. Smith faces charges related to methamphetamine possession as well as various motor vehicle violations.
Raul Garcia III, 49, was taken into custody at I-10 West near milepost 219 in St. Rose on April 6 after deputies observed illicit narcotics during a traffic stop. Garcia is charged with possession of methamphetamine along with several vehicle registration offenses.
The Sheriff’s Office continues its focus on removing illegal drugs from local streets through proactive patrols and investigations.
