Ed Reed was born on September 11, 1978, in St. Rose, Louisiana. He played college football at the University of Miami. Reed was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played safety for 12 seasons, mostly with the Ravens. Reed was known for his ability to intercept passes and make returns. He holds the NFL record for career interception return yards and postseason interceptions. Reed helped the Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII in 2013. He was selected to nine Pro Bowls and named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2004. After retiring, Reed was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019. He has remained connected to St. Rose, where he was born. Reed is recognized for his contributions to football and his local community.
