Dutchtown High School had the highest enrollment among Ascension Parish schools, welcoming 2,485 students during the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52% of them were boys, and 48% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 65.6% of Dutchtown High School's total enrollment.

Among the 31 schools in the Ascension Parish, St. Amant High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 2,211 students, while East Ascension High School welcomed 1,899 students to be ranked third in the 2021-22 school year.

Dutchtown High School is part of the Ascension Parish School District, which generally encompasses schools within Ascension Parish, with its main office in Donaldsonville.

In the previous school year, Dutchtown High School still had the highest number of students among Ascension Parish schools.

The majority of Louisiana students were either white (48%) or Black (37%) in the 2021-22 school year.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

Only 22% of Louisiana’s teachers are Black or Latino, compared to about 48% of the state's K–12 students who identify as either race.
