Enrollment in St. Charles Parish School District schools decreased from previous year

The only school district in St. Charles Parish suffered declining enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 9,478 students in the halls of St. Charles Parish School District schools, 2.5% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in St. Charles Parish was steady compared to the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.6% of them were boys, and 48.4% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 52.4% of the St. Charles Parish School Districts total enrollment.

St. Charles Parish School District has a main office in Luling and is the only school district within St. Charles Parish.

The majority of Louisiana students were either white (48%) or Black (37%) in the 2021-22 school year.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.
