2023-24 School Year: How many students were enrolled in St. John the Baptist Parish schools

There were 5,148 students enrolled in St. John the Baptist Parish schools in the 2023-24 school year, 3.4% more than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 50.7% of them were boys, and 49.3% were girls.

Data also showed that Black students made up 71.9% of the student body, the largest percentage in the parish, followed by 16.3% Hispanic students, 8.7% white students and 0.3% Asian students.

East St. John High School had the highest enrolment among St. John the Baptist Parish's schools in the 2023-24 school year, welcoming 1,321 students.

According to a 2023 Scholaroo study, Louisiana's education system ranked 49th in the U.S., only ahead of Arizona. The state ranked poorly in key metrics such as school quality, student achievement, and student safety.
