There were four American Indian students enrolled in St. James Parish School District schools in the 2021-22 school year, 33.3% less than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Data showed that St. James Parish School District welcomed 3,479 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.1% of the student body to be the second least represented ethnicity in the district.

St. James Parish School District roughly covers schools within St. James Parish and has a main office in Lutcher.

Among the nine schools in St. James Parish School District, Lutcher High School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of two students.

The majority of Louisiana students were identified as white and Black, representing 48% and 37% of the state student body respectively during the 2021–22 academic year. Hispanic students made up 8.6% of the student body, and other ethnic minorities made up 5.6%.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.
