In the 2022-23 school year, 51.4% of students enrolled in St. James Parish schools were male, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 3,416 students in the halls of St. James Parish schools, comprising 1,756 male students (51.4%) and 1,660 female pupils (48.6%).

During the previous school year, St. James Parish’s student body consisted of 50.6% male and 49.4% female.

Across the state, 51.1% of students were male and 48.9% were female.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students. A higher student-to-teacher ratio has been found to negatively impact students' school performance.
